Amazing Postdoctoral Position Available in Breast Cancer Health Disparities Research
Research project involves the characterization and study of molecules associated with cancer health disparities, pseudogenes/lncRNA, lipid signaling, and cholesterol/triglyceride metabolism. The overall goal of the laboratory is to characterize the role of the tissue microenvironment on mammary cell function, as well as determine its role in the development and progression of cancer. One primary objective is to identify the mechanism involved in the development of aggressive, metastatic breast cancer in premenopausal African American women.https://sites.google.com/site/drjodiemfleming/
Position is within the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences at North Carolina Central, located in downtown Durham. Collaboration and full access to facilities and core centers at NCCU’s Julius L. Chambers Biomedical Biotechnical Research Institute, the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise, as well as Duke, the University of North Carolina and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and NC State campus facilities are available.
Qualities sought: Outstanding work ethic, demonstrates highly developed interpersonal skills, exceptional communication skills, excellent problem solving skills, and a high level of self-motivation. Use of statistics and experience with scientific writing, the ability to perform detailed work, multi-task, and problem solve. Exhibits a strong ability to take direction and assimilate instructions quickly. Proficient in computer and molecular biology skills and utilizing imaging and analysis software. Cell culture and working with various murine models is a benefit, but not required.
