Position Description Dr. Da Yang’s laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly motivated and organized Biomedical Scientist to join our efforts to identify therapeutic targets and predictive markers for cancer personalized therapy. The incumbent is expected to specialize in advanced molecular biology work. Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for developing RNA-related biochemistry and next-generation sequencing protocol (e.g. RNA biochemistry, RNA-Seq, ChIP-seq, and CHART-seq library construction). This person will also serve as a consultant to other members of the lab and school that require his/her expertise in RNA biology, epigenetic, ChIP, and animal. A minimum of a Ph.D. Degree in biological related science and five to eight years of experience in cancer biology are required.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position A Ph.D. Degree in biology, pharmacology, or a related science. Prefer 5-8 years’ experience in cancer biology and first author publications in cancer biology. Experience with RNA biology, epigenetics, ChIP, and animal research is also necessary. At least three years of experience in lncRNA or transcriptional regulation related cancer research; experience of independently perform the cancer cell-culture related works (cell line maintenance, transfections, development of stable cell lines etc.); experience in mentoring entry-level lab members about molecular biology work (cloning, PCR, and Western blot), and mentoring and training other junior lab members.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Child Protection Clearances The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
